Cathy Bramley’s Nightstand
I’m delighted to feature in Shelf Pleasure’s ‘Nightstand’ section, not least because I’ve never heard the word before. In Britain, we usually refer to the ‘thing’ next to our bed as a bedside table! So anyway I thought I’d show you mine.
But before we get to the books, focus your attention on the headboard. You can tell that the person who owns this bed likes to sit up and read and be very comfortable doing it!
So. The books. Marian Keyes is my favourite author. I love her clever plot lines, her characterisation is amazing and I adore the way she treats more serious subjects with tact as well as humour. I found this copy of Anybody Out There in a second-hand shop and realized it was one I hadn’t read. I can’t wait!
Next up is Whatever It Takes by Adele Parks. I went to a writing conference in September and Adele gave the keynote speech. It was only a couple of weeks before the launch of my debut novel Conditional Love. Her speech was so motivating and really spurred me on to be the best that I can be in my writing career. I went and bought this book at the conference and she signed it for me. I showed her Conditional Love (I had a copy in my bag!) and on the day of publication she tweeted me to wish me good luck!
Last but definitely not least is It Started With A Kiss by Miranda Dickinson. I would like to call Miranda a friend. She probably calls me a stalker! LOL! She has helped me so much with my writing career and is one of the most talented and generous people I know. She signed this book for me when I met her in December and I’m saving it! I have this thing with signed books: I save them for best, I don’t like to crease them and I wait as long as possible to read them to keep them looking pristine!
So there you go, the three books on my ‘nightstand.’ I hope I’ve introduced you to some new favourites of your own!
