Katy Evans on ‘Manwhore’
Katy Evans, the New York Times bestselling author of Real, Mine, Remy, Rogue, and Ripped dishes on her sexy new series.
What would you like readers to know about your new series?
Manwhore is the first in a new series set in Chicago. It features a very elusive and relentless playboy billionaire and a young reporter tasked to investigate him. Their world is very contemporary and their story is a slow burning, exquisite love story I hope readers won’t want to miss!
Manwhore is such an arresting title, but we feel like you don’t hear a lot about men with that type of reputation. What made you want to explore that idea?
I believe that any ‘names’ that we call people never truly represent a person at all. It’s almost unfair, for anyone to use one word to describe anyone else simply because of one action, or what they appear to be. Manwhore, as a title, represents the image of this intoxicating man, the most-wanted billionaire bachelor in the city, but the actual story is about the real man inside…and he’s so much more than a manwhore.
What are the must-have items you need to write a book?
In order to write and stay put writing, I need music, a hot cup of coffee or tea, and a blanket in case my feet get cold. Oh, and my laptop. Though I sometimes write a scene in rough on a normal page with a pen, and then flesh it out when I have the time to sit with my laptop.
If you were to be stranded on a desert island with one of your heroes, who would you pick?
I’m sure each and every one of my heroes would protect me to the death! Who else would help them achieve their goals and HEA’s (Happily Ever Afters) if they only seem to talk to me?
If you had to be a contestant on a reality show, which one would you pick?
Oh no. No reality shows. Well, maybe, just because I’ve laughed so hard that I feel guilty not to put myself out there in the same way – take me to Wipe Out. I’m sure I’ll be wiped out in record time but I’d still try my damnedest not to.
What can readers expect next from you?
Coming up next is the sequel to Manwhore, Manwhore+1, releasing July 7th of this year. I can’t wait for readers to read the continuation of Malcolm and Rachel’s story.
What books are currently sitting on your nightstand?
Currently on my nightstand there’s Sandra Brown’s Smoke Screen, Gayle Forman’s Just One Day, and The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn by Eric Ives (I just love the Tudors.)
