New Releases 9.12.16
It’s new release Tuesday—and the hardest part is picking which book to read first! Historical fiction or mystery?
Fates and Traitors: A Novel of John Wilkes Booth by Jennifer Chiaverini
Historical fiction featuring one of the most fascinating individuals in history—John Wilkes Booth. Though a story centering on Booth might not have been our first choice initially, the advance praise piqued our interest. Chiaverini also chose to focus the novel on the four women in his life whom he loved, creating an insightful look at one of the most notorious figures in American history.
Body on the Bayou: A Cajun Country Mystery by Ellen Byron
Who knew a murder mystery could be so fun? The Crozat Plantation B&B has seen its share of troubles. Despite the scandal, it’s still booking big events—including the upcoming wedding of the police chief. But then the body of the cousin of the bride-to-be is found on the bayou, and it’s déjà vu for the Crozarts. Some of the evidence points to the bride, which means it’s up to Maid of Honor Maggie Crozat to find whodunit.
The Littlest Bigfoot (Littlest Bigfoot Series #1) by Jennifer Weiner
Though not a typical Shelf Pleasure read, we like to check out anything from the wonderful Jennifer Weiner. Her first children book should garner her many new fans who will love her funny, wholesome look at friendship as 12-year-old Alice finds her first real friend—a Bigfoot who inhabits an entirely different world from anything Alice has ever known.
