New Releases 7.16.13
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far! There is nothing like a lazy summer day spent with a good book. Here are the new ones we’ll be checking out.
With comparisons to Gillian Flynn, we can’t wait to get our hands on this one. One cab ride leads to a three year nightmare for best friends Sarah and Jennifer, who are held captive by a depraved man. Ten years later, Sarah is trying to live a normal life. But when their captor is up for parole, she begins a journey that will take her into the depths of hell. This debut thriller sounds like it might best be read with the lights on.
This charming tale is about growing up and figuring out what you want out of life. Eighteen-year-old Bailey is having a tough time. Her younger sister is offered a recording contract, and even though all she wants to do is perform, her family wants her to stay behind the scenes and out of the way. But when she is left with her grandfather in Nashville for the summer, Bailey’s dreams just might come true.
We admit the title of this book made us look twice. And to discover it’s a story about a woman with wanderlust who is about to turn 30, well we had to check that out. Alice has no interest in an ordinary office job. She’d rather be traveling the globe—even if it means keeping away from her family. But when she finds out her father is dying, she just makes it home in time to say goodbye. Butler’s debut is a powerful look at love and family and what it means to be home. We are curious to see what the author does next.
