The author stops by to talk to us about her new world.
Jessie Darker goes to high school during the day, but at night she helps with the family paranormal investigation business. It kind of reminds us of Veronica Mars in an awesome new world. Can you tell us about your inspiration for it?
There wasn’t any specific spark that started the idea, but I am a huge fan of Veronica Mars, so I bet that subconsciously played a role.
Young adult novels by adults can be hit or miss, but we feel like you capture the high school experience. How do you make your voice so authentic?
Um… I’m gonna have to say it’s probably because I never grew up.
What kind of research do you do for the paranormal elements of your novels?
I think mostly, it’s a lot of reading. Other books, mythology, and monster encyclopedias. Fun stuff!
What can we look forward to from you next?
My new adult, RUINED, comes out the end of September. I’m very excited!
What books are currently sitting on your nightstand?
I’m just about to start Towering by Alex Flinn.
