Week 3 – Shelf Pleasure 2016 Reading Challenge
We’re already three weeks into 2016…and we hope you’re three books in as well! For week 3 of Shelf Pleasure’s 2016 Reading Challenge (catch up on how to participate here) we’re reading a book for our personal book club: Anthony Breznican’s Brutal Youth. We chose it because of a rave it received from one of our author heroes, Stephen King, who calls it, “…an unputdownable tour-de-force, a Rebel Without a Cause for the 21st century.” The story centers around two best friends and the girl they have a crush on. They find themselves fighting for survival at St. Michael the Archangel High School, a once-prestigious institution that has become a crumbling dumping ground for delinquents, misfits, and the unlucky. It is making us very very glad we can barely remember our own high school days!
